Ladylike Workbag

You know I'm a bit of a sucker for the classic Mulberry styling. And you also know that I like practical bags.

I've seen the Mulberry Suffolk at outlets and on Mulberry Facebook groups for some time and always liked the slightly boxy shape and ladylike styling.Well, one came up for sale recently and I made a bit of a rash well considered purchase.

All packed up, she's ready to come to work!

Oh, and a bit of a first: two videos as I noticed how dark the original one was and thought I'd do a quick second one that show the leather and colour a bit better!

Hidden Layers

The mornings are now definitely chilly, so it's time for black tights, boots and the occasional woolly skirt. Thankfully I have a stack of thin, long sleeved jersey tops in various colours that I wear underneath whatever I want to wear on top. Layers it is!

Warehouse victorian blouse and Topshop tartan skirt
I've had this blouse in the back of my wardrobe for years and since I'm trying to stick to my "wear it or it goes" policy, I made myself wear it. Perfectly goes with the antique Victorian locket Mr G got me one Christmas.
Blouse: Warehouse
Skirt: Topshop
Locket: something very vintage...

Zara dress and Stella and Dot necklace
Nothing like a bit of monochrome dressing. I was channeling Chanel - but at a Zara budget...
Dress: Zara
Necklace: Stella & Dot
Boots: Zara

Denim Shirt with Mini skirt
I think I'm just gonna continue to match this shirt with whatever I can find. You'll shout if it looks silly, right? Xx
Shirt: LaRedoute
Skirt: Topshop

Boden dress with trellis print
No accessories as I was in a rush but think the dress can do it all by itself...
Dress: Boden

Ultimate Mum Bag

Confession time: I've got a few pretty designer bags. (Yes, mainly Mulberry.) And I promise, I do use most of them regularly. But, when it comes to days out with the little one or running errands at the weekend, I tend to go for something non-designer, non-precious, non-leather.

I've had a Longchamp LePliage with long handles for a few years. I really like how hardwearing it is but I miss a long strap that allows me to carry it cross body. I also don't like that it neither has an outside pocket, nor any large enough inside pockets that mean I am not putting my Mulberry purse at risk from the dreaded sticky kiddie drink/snacks/wet wipes. (No, I do not move in and out of a purse, according to which bag I'm carrying).

Longchamp Hobo in teal

So when I saw this Longchamp Hobo at their Bicester Village's outlet, I pounced. I think it was advertised at £100 but they had a discount on that day, so I only paid around £70. They had about 8 different colours in stock and my favourite was this teal.

So: outside pocket for kiddie drink? Tick.
Inside pocket large enough to hold (and protect) my purse? Tick.
Long, adjustable strap to wear bag cross body? Bingo!

Have a look what fits in!

Leopard Print Week

You know that feeling when you try on a (potential) new item of clothing - and it makes you look lumpy and horrible. Or short. Or skinny or fat or pale or... weird... Happens quite often to me. But every now and then you try on something and (after a bit of pulling and prodding) it just works. That's how I felt in this new Boden dress: super flattering, making me look more ladylike than I've ever felt. And a cool pattern too. Fab. So that was the good bit last week. The bad bit (clothes-wise) was when I remembered how much I miss wearing heels...

Boden leopard print dress
Love my new dress from Boden, but it has a tricky neckline and I was a bit worried that I couldn't layer anything (and I'm always cold). Glad I still have this Warehouse jacket (must be about 10 years old). Haven't figured out how to wear a necklace with said neckline - but I don't think it needs it?
Dress: Boden
Jacket: Warehouse
Shoes: Dune

Warehouse midi skirt with trainers and heels
Sometimes I mourn the fact that I can no longer wear heels. Like when pairing a skirt with shoes is *so* much easier if you have heels at your disposal. Ok, so the skirt worked quite well with pointy flats (last week) but it was due to rain and I didn't want to risk wrecking the suede. I came home, did my usual pic and, before I changed into my home clobber, just quickly put on a pair of heels that have been crying in the back of my wardrobe. Instant lift. *sigh*
Top & skirt: Warehouse
Trainers: Kurt Geiger
Pumps: Dune

Issa dress
That picture doesn't do any justice to that dress, which is nigh on magic: it gives me a waist and manages to be fairly low cut without being too revealing to wear at the office.
Dress: Issa
Boots: Marks & Spencer
Zara print sweatshirt and Boden print pencil skirt
Mr G says he doesn't like the jumper as "it looks like something from the 70s". I'd say 80s myself and I do like it. :)

Skirt: Boden
Shoes: Dune

Breaking the Pattern

So I've kind of found my comfort zone with knee length skirts and tops. Mix it up with a print, maybe even clash it with another one. Add flats and a necklace: done! And then I come across something that kind of doesn't fit that pattern. This green Warehouse skirt is probably a tad too long on me (not hard, as I'm only 5'1" tall) - especially as I no longer wear heels and can't rely on them to give me those extra inches. I'm cheating a bit on the pic below as I'm a little bit on my tippy toes but I still think it works! Oh: and I'm pattern-free for a change!

Warehouse midi skirt, Topshop top, Stella & Dot necklace
What do you do if you have a midi skirt that you don't wear often enough because you find the length really challenging? You buy another one and try harder.  (Sorry, couldn't resist the colour. Silly, really...)
Top: Topshop
Skirt: Warehouse
Shoes: Zara
Necklace: Stella & Dot

Boden print pencil skirt and LaRedoute denim shirt
So I said before how a new season always seems to surprise me as I suddenly have to figure out my new uniform. I just can't do with deciding for ages what to wear in the morning and need to be able to throw things together quickly. Well, the colder mornings are here now and I remembered that I have a denim shirt - that goes with *everything*! Sorted!
Denim Shirt: LaRedoute
Skirt: Boden
Shoes & necklace: Zara

Boden Mia Tunic, Marks and Spencer Boots
This dress must be one of the most easy to wear pieces I have in my wardrobe. Goes with lots of shoes and boots, add a necklace - finished. That's how I like getting dressed: no faffing about!
Tunic Dress: Boden
Boots: Marks & Spencer
Necklace: Stella & Dot

Boden print pencil skirt, &OtherStories top, Warehouse necklace
Short sleeves?! Might be the last of the summer outfits. (OK, so I cheated and wore a cardigan over it for most of the day...)
T-shirt: &OtherStories
Skirt: Boden
Shoes: Zara
Necklace: Warehouse

Oh, and just in case you think I wore that skirt twice last week: I think it was a leftover from the week before then.

Raspberry Tote

Just when I think I now know pretty much all Mulberry bags, I come across another one I've never seen before. This Leigh Tote is from around 2008 and surprisingly spacious. Not only does it hold a fair amount, it also holds A4 format with ease - and is comfortable to carry on the shoulder!
(And because of the colour I have Prince signing Raspberry Beret in my head...)

But have a look what I've fitted in!

Hello Autumn

Moving from Summer into Autumn - purely by necessity as mornings are rather fresh now. (Not a problem if you're driving to work but those trainstation platforms can be drafty.) I am trying to remember all those transitional outfits from just a few months ago.
Good job I have some pics on my Instagram...

Boden print sweatshirt and Warehouse pleather pencil skirt
It's getting colder, time for the opaques...
Deciding what to wear needs to be a matter of seconds and I just got into the swing of things with summer. I don't have time to faff about in the morning but every Autumn and Spring I seem to have forgotten what to wear in certain a weather...
Top: Boden
Skirt: Warehouse
Boots: Zara

Topshop golden knit jumper and Boden retro print skirt
I'm feeling suitable autumnal in orange, purple and gold...
Top: Topshop
Skirt: Boden
Boots: Zara
Necklace: Sainsbury's

Stripy t-shirt and Mulberry icecream necklace
I'm really not keen on this pic but I was so behind and hadn't posted much, that I refused to just delete it. I remember getting dressed on that Saturday morning and thinking that Summer was pretty much over... let's beg it to stay for one more day with candy stripes and icecream!

Trainers: Converse
